They are members now, not guests

At the Premier League's annual general meeting the three clubs promoted from the Championship โ€” Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City โ€” were entered into the share register and given framed share certificates.

The three clubs who went the other way, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and West Ham United, transferred those shares back. That is the administrative fact of promotion: a club is in the Premier League when the league says it is, not when a table is reset on social media.

How they came up

Coventry City won the Championship. The Premier League's fixture release and BBC Sport both treat them as the newly promoted champions, and BBC Sport notes that Friday's match at Arsenal is their first top-flight game in 25 years.

Ipswich Town were the other automatic promotee. The Premier League listed their opening fixture as their first game back in the division.

Hull City completed the three by winning the Championship play-offs. Their first Premier League match is at home to Manchester United on Saturday 22 August.

Their opening fixtures

Coventry start away at champions Arsenal on Friday 21 August, 20:00 BST, live on Sky Sports.

Hull start at home to Manchester United on Saturday 22 August, 12:30, live on TNT Sports โ€” the season's first Saturday lunchtime game.

Ipswich start at home to Sunderland on Saturday 22 August, 15:00.

Those are the confirmed dates. They are not a statement about how any of the three will play.

What 'approach' this page will not invent

The working title of this draft asked what the newly promoted clubs' approach to the Premier League would be. That is a tactical question, and tactics are not something BRYME invents from a press-kit paragraph.

We have not been at their training grounds. We do not have official starting XIs. Summer signings belong on the transfer tracker only when a club or a named source has confirmed them, and even then a list of arrivals is not a playing style.

What can be said without guessing: all three clubs are now Premier League members; two of them open at home; one of them opens away against the champions after a 25-year wait. The rest has to be watched.

What happens next on BRYME

Each opening fixture already has a match page. Results go on those same URLs after full-time. This site will not publish a survival table in August.

The full confirmed calendar, including who came down, is on our 2026/27 season guide.
