What this page is

The 2026/27 Premier League season begins on Friday 21 August 2026. This page is a briefing of what the league has already published: the ten opening-round fixtures, the kick-off times, the UK television listings, and the reason the campaign starts later than usual.

It is not a preview of how any match will go. Matchweek 1 has not been played. BRYME will not invent lineups, injuries or scorelines to fill the space.

Friday: the season starts at the Emirates

Champions Arsenal host newly promoted Coventry City at 20:00 BST on Friday 21 August, live on Sky Sports.

That is the first match of the season. For Coventry it is also a first top-flight match in 25 years. For Arsenal it is the start of a title defence after their first Premier League championship since 2004.

Saturday

Saturday 22 August, all times BST.

Hull City v Manchester United, 12:30, TNT Sports. Hull came up through the Championship play-offs. This is the season's first Saturday lunchtime game.

Everton v Crystal Palace, 15:00.

Ipswich Town v Sunderland, 15:00. The Premier League listed this as Ipswich's first game back in the division.

Nottingham Forest v Leeds United, 15:00.

Brentford v Tottenham Hotspur, 17:30, Sky Sports.

Sunday and Monday

Sunday 23 August.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Aston Villa, 14:00, Sky Sports. The Premier League said this kick-off was moved because Brighton are in the UEFA Conference League qualification play-offs on the preceding Thursday.

Manchester City v AFC Bournemouth, 14:00, Sky Sports. City's first home league match of the post-Guardiola season.

Newcastle United v Liverpool, 16:30, Sky Sports.

Monday 24 August.

Fulham v Chelsea, 20:00, Sky Sports. The opening round ends here.

Why the season starts this late

The Premier League said the campaign starts one week later than usual after an expanded 48-team World Cup. That leaves 33 days from the World Cup final on 19 July, and 89 clear days from the end of 2025/26.

There are still 380 matches and 38 rounds, arranged as 33 weekend rounds and five midweek rounds. The league said the schedule is designed to avoid clashes with UEFA dates wherever possible.

The season finishes on Sunday 30 May 2027, with every final-round match kicking off at 16:00.

What this page will not do

There are no score predictions here, no projected table and no claimed XI. Team news changes in the 48 hours before kick-off; if a club has not confirmed an absence, it does not appear.

Kick-off times later in the season move for television and for European progress. Treat anything beyond this opening round as provisional until the league republishes it.

Each of these ten fixtures already has a match page on BRYME. Results and post-match analysis appear on those same URLs only after full-time, once the outcome is officially confirmed.
